Vines, sheep, cattle, flora, fauna and people.

Yeringberg is a place of many interconnecting parts, holistic in the way they all come together.

Along with grapes, the de Pury family farm a substantial number of sheep and cattle across the property, contributing to our sustainable land management.

The sheep graze the vineyards in winter, helping to control the inter-row and under-vine grasses while adding back natural fertiliser to the vines.

During vintage, the sheep and cattle eat all the leftover grape stalks and skins. It's a treat for them, but also a way to use everything we grow efficiently and sustainably.

The land also isn't just the vineyard, winery and the farm. It's a natural environment, home to countless species of flora and fauna and the task is to keep them as thriving and healthy as well.

On a human level, the family and team are accustomed to being adaptable. One day they will be working with animals, the next day pruning the vineyard, helping bottle wine, sowing feed or cover crops or planting new stands of trees indigenous to the area. The farm is a living, breathing entity in its own right, and everyone here respects all of the varied tasks on hand.
