Major construction at Yeringberg as success feeds the need for greater efficiency and growth.

The gravity-fed winery and cellars are completed, capable of making and storing approx. 30,000 gallons (110,000 litres). Constructed by renowned local builder, David Mitchell (father of Dame Nellie Melba), the winery and cellars are a stunning example of state of the art design and engineering. David Mitchell also built the famous Exhibition Buildings in Carlton, Melbourne for the 1880-81 Melbourne International Exhibition. TheYeringberg brick stables were also completed in 1886. These buildings are still firmly standing today and are classified by the National Trust.Â
